Why this fic? denied has this nasty habit of writing these bizarre little pairings that never would have occurred to me, and making me fall in love with them. She must be found, and punished. Or given cookies.
Lightning and Dust by nyghtpet—Spike/Lindsey. Set in Old West. Lindsey is a preacher in Drywater, Arizona, and Spike rolls into town guns blazing.
Why this fic? It’s so *them*. She manages to capture their canon dynamic in a very interesting way while staying true to the time period, which is something that’s hard to pull off. Plus, Angel’s role in this fic makes me snorfle.
The Rodeo!verse by crazydiamondsue—Angel/Xander. The title and the pairing tell you everything you need to know, really.
Why this fic? Because dude. Cowboys are hot. But more than that, anyone who can add Angel, Xander, and bucking broncs together and make it work? Has my respect. And it doesn’t just work here, it makes *sense*.
Speed Demon by denied heaven—Xander/Spike. Spike is a rising star on the racetrack and Xander is his crew chief.
Why this fic? Spike and Xander slide into these roles surprisingly well. This is such a fun fic. I’m sure NASCAR would not be amused to find that I can no longer think of them without my mind leaping to the spander lovin. It’s one of *those* fics. Sticks with you.
